Avoise. Jazz Potes play New Orleans jazz

Sunday October 6, 2019, there will be a cabaret afternoon, at the multipurpose room of Avoise (Sarthe). Johann Lefèvre, cornettist of the Jazz Potes group who will perform the concert, answers our questions.

At the start, it was an association of Mayenne musicians who came together to play jazz in New Orleans style. It was over thirty years ago. Today, the group has evolved in form but not in substance. We are seven professionals and amateurs, some of whom have been members since the start or almost. I joined them three years ago. We just released a fourth album.

We play music that we like. Our concert is based on songs played in the 1910s, 1920s, 1930s in New Orleans. It's music as colorful as a boat on the Mississippi. We play and we sing. We only do covers of traditional songs. It’s the Louis Amstrong, Sidney Bechet period.

The organizers have planned to set up the room with tables so that people can have a drink while listening to us play. Our jazz is festive, it will be a festive concert in two parts of 45 & nbsp; minutes. It is better to book to be sure you have a table and to be able to follow the concert.

Sunday, October 6, at 3 p.m., in the multi-purpose hall, cabaret jazz of New Orleans (Louisiana). Price: € 7. Reservations advised on 06 & nbsp; 84 & nbsp; 57 & nbsp; 59 & nbsp; 36.
